Production of the next-generation Ford Focus
2nd July 2011
Production of the next-generation Ford Focus will begin simultaneously in Europe and North America in late 2010, with individual market launches start early in 2011. Launches in Asia, Africa and South America will follow. Initial production will be saturated at the Saarlouis (Germany), Michigan (Únited States) and Chongqing (China) Assembly Plants.
The new Focus will be one of up to 10 unique models to be reinforced from Ford’s new C-car platform, which is expected to generate total sales in all regions of 2 million units annually by 2012. The first of these will be the new Ford C-MAX and Ford Grand C-MAX – unveiled astatine the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show – for launch in Europe in the second half of 2010.
‘Global customers increasingly want littler cars with outstanding fuel economy, but without sacrificing any of the style, technology, connectivity and drive quality they demand from bigger vehicles,’ explained Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s group vice president of Global Product Development.
Created by Ford TeamRS, the company’s dedicated performance vehicle arm, the 2008 Focus ST benefits from the new exterior and interior styling changes introduced across the rest of the Focus line-up earlier this year. Importantly though, while offering new technologies and features, the car’s well-honed dynamics remain untouched.
At the heart of the matter is the familiar 225 PS, 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder Duratec engine. Powerful, and accompanied by a suitably sporty soundtrack, this powerhouse delivers a potential 150mph top speed in tandem with 0-62mph acceleration in just 6.8 seconds.
Indeed, as a measure of this car’s ability, a standard production Focus ST set a segment-leading record time of 8 minutes 35 seconds around the Nordschleife circuit at the famed Nurburgring.
This sort of achievement requires more than just brute power and the Focus ST remains one of the sharpest handling cars in its class. In fact, the ST may well be the definitive choice for enthusiastic drivers who also demand comfort around town and an array of subtle suspension enhancements ensures this is still the case.

This sort of achievement requires more than just brute power and the Focus ST remains one of the sharpest handling cars in its class. In fact, the ST may well be the definitive choice for enthusiastic drivers who also demand comfort around town and an array of subtle suspension enhancements ensures this is still the case.
A powerful braking system is top of this list while Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Traction Control are now standard on all versions.
The Focus ST has always provided lots of choice and the range retains its simple ST, ST-2 and ST-3 trim grades and three or five-door hatchback bodystyles. It is priced from £18,250 - £20,850.
Every Focus ST boasts 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, sports styling, body-hugging Recaro sports seats, a unique sports steering wheel and upgraded instrumentation. New to this generation of ST are the ‘Ford Power’ starter button and Easyfuel capless refuelling system. Upgrading to ST-2 adds a Sony audio system, bi-xenon lights, LED rear lights and Quickclear heated windscreen while the ST-3 includes an in-dash six CD player plus full leather trim.
The new Ford Focus, the beginning of April 2011 came on the market, it is to launch many new driver-assistance systems, some of them unique in the compact class. For example, the fatigue Warner, the lane assistant, the Blind Spot Assistant or include the Active City Stop to all the major technologies of the Ford Focus. In addition, the new Focus was produced in the Kinetic design to improve the aerodynamics and thus reduce consumption. Now we want to introduce the new technology in the Ford Focus.
Another important system in the Ford Focus is the “Dead Angle Wizard. This new technology alerts the driver via a signal in mirrors, if there is a vehicle in the blind spot. But as the system detects a vehicle in the blind spot? This happens via wheel sensors, which then pass the signal to the system and the driver.
Road Sign Detection System
This system is simple and easy to use a camera in the front section recognizes traffic signs such as a speed limit and overtaking, and displays them on again for the driver on-board computer. Thus, we hardly missed a traffic sign in a Ford Focus.
The penultimate system from the Ford Focus, we would like to introduce is the so-called Active City Stop. The system is to reduce rear-end collisions at low speeds. But how does it work exactly? Using a laser sensor monitors the Activa City permanently stop the gap to the front vehicle. This will slow down abruptly or slowly, the system increases the braking pressure and directs the braking process, a self-employed. The system is active from a speed of 30 km / h and to avoid accidents up to a speed of 15 mph. At a higher speed to the severity of the collision are at least reduced.
Parking assistants:
Finally, a system which does not necessarily increase safety at Ford Focus, but still very useful. It is now around the parking assistants. This system detects thanks to ultrasonic sensors, whether a parking space is large enough. If you want to park finally takes over the parking-assistant in the Ford Focus is the steering, giving only the gas and brakes must be carried out even.
London Motor Show in July is the place to be if you want to check the details. Of course, some time before then WCF would have delivered technical specifications, as usual. But now we are on crumbs thrown down insiders from the engineering “at the table, primarily the Ford Focus RS will not 4WD, but front-wheel-drive. That alone is probably enough to make it a Mazda3 MPS rivals more than a Subaru STI enemy. But wait, there’s more. Looks like we are coming to less than 300 hp – 280 hp speculated on this one, it is certainly much, but also places STI 300 horses on the back, with an additional 8 Horses just in case.

FWD course useful, up to about 320 hp, where 4WD can be used. Otherwise, you can contact rear engines. We hope for 4WD and magical 300-plus horses from the 2.5-litre turbo, and there is still time to make the necessary changes before the RS on the market.
The GT500KR’s impeccable balance of handling and performance is the result of a holistic approach to the development, looking at the total vehicle with chassis and powertrain engineers working together to optimize all vehicle attributes.
For example, a new front splitter and revised rear spoiler aid in aerodynamic improvements, adding downforce over the front axle and moving the center of aero pressure forward in the vehicle to improve high-speed balance and stable, predictable braking character. The ride height has been lowered to the optimum setting for on-the-limit handling, lowering the front by 20 mm and the rear by 15 mm.
“The KR is more responsive and has more body control,” said Gary Davis, vice president of production for Shelby Automobiles. “It delivers even more racing feel than a stock GT500. Yet it’s still extremely comfortable and doesn’t beat you up like some performance cars. We’ve been able to increase handling substantially without giving up a lot in ride comfort.
Ford Motor »(Ford Motor Company), an American car company, which manufactures cars brands Ford, Mercury, Lincoln, trucks, various agricultural machinery. Ford owned company Jaguar. Is headquartered in Diborne (Mich.), near which was once a farm parents of Henry Ford.
The company was founded by Henry Ford in 1903 and immediately thought of its creator intended for mass production of cheap cars. Originally, this was the model «A», in 1908 it changed its model «T», dubbed cartoonists “tin Lizzie.” The successes of the new models were so great that the ever-expanding enterprise of Ford could not cope with orders.

At the British International Motor Show, Ford has introduced the ECOnetic version of its Ford Fiesta. The engine is a 1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi (diesel) that has been tweaked for efficiency. Fuel economy for the ECOnetic Fiesta is 3.7 L/100km (63.6 mpg US) combined, or 3.2 L/100km (73.5 mpg US) on the highway! It’s not exactly a race car, with 0 to 60 mph in 12 seconds, but those who will buy it won’t care, the mileage will more than make up for it.
Fuel Saving Tricks
The ECOnetic Fiesta uses a bunch of tricks to reduce fuel consumption, things like improved aerodynamics (its coefficient of drag is 0.33), weight reduction, low rolling resistance tires, and enhanced lubrication. Simple enhancements that could be used on most cars.
